Creating Star Wars text in Unity 5

Even though Unity 5 has new UI system, there is another way to display text in the screen, by using 3D Text. To use 3D Text, go to menubar GameObject  > 3D Object  > 3D Text.

To demonstrate the example of use of 3D Text, we are going to create star war look a like text in this tutorial.

To begin with, add to 3D Text in the scene then change its Font size to 100 and Scale it down to 0.3 in all axis and adjust the position so camera can see, like X = -8, Y = 6, Z = 12.

Now duplicate the text ( select text and hit Command + D on mac and Ctrl + D in window ). Inside the text type some random words and give it Rotation of 45 in X axis and Scale it down to 0.1 in all axis and bring it closer to camera like X = -7, Y = 2, Z = 7.

So now your scene will look like this.

By the way change background to black. Select Main Camera and change Clear Flag to Solid Color and Background to black.

Thanks
